Understanding the unique aspects of weight loss in men
Biological differences between men and women play a role in weight management. Men typically have higher muscle mass and basal metabolic rate, which may provide an advantage in weight loss. However, hormonal aspects, especially testosterone, are important. Testosterone affects muscle mass, fat distribution, and energy levels, and low testosterone levels in overweight men can complicate weight loss.
Lifestyle factors such as stress, sleep quality, and work habits also have a significant impact on weight and hormonal balance. Many men experience time pressure and challenges in prioritizing healthy habits. In addition, emotional eating is not exclusive to women; men can also turn to food as a response to stress or other emotional challenges.
